The Title Race
PSV were relentless from the first whistle, accumulating 84 points with 101 goals and a goal difference of +56. They averaged nearly 3 goals per game — a remarkable achievement in a competitive league. Their nearest rivals, Feyenoord, could only watch from a distance.
NEC Nijmegen (59 pts) had a brilliant season, finishing 3rd and earning Europa League football. Ajax (59 pts), equal on points but behind on goal difference, secured Conference League qualification. The Dutch league once again provided compelling mid-table competition.
European Qualification
PSV qualified directly for the Champions League as champions. Feyenoord entered Champions League qualifying. NEC Nijmegen earned Europa League qualification in 3rd. Ajax secured the Conference League spot in 4th.
Relegation
NAC Breda (29 pts) and Heracles (19 pts) were relegated. Heracles had a catastrophic season, conceding 85 goals — the worst defensive record in the league by a wide margin.
The Story: PSV's Record-Breaking Attack
PSV's 101 goals is the most scored by any Eredivisie champion in the modern era. Johan Bakayoko was exceptional on the right wing, providing goals and assists throughout the season. Their front three was the most feared unit in Dutch football.
The challenge for PSV next season will be retaining key players ahead of expected interest from top European clubs. Their Champions League campaign will also be watched with great interest.
Looking Ahead
PSV enter next season as clear title favourites. Feyenoord and Ajax will hope to close the gap. NAC Breda and Heracles return to the Eerste Divisie.
