The Title Race

Craiova led the Superliga from matchday 3 and were never truly threatened. Their goal difference of +47 and just 28 goals conceded reflected a team of supreme organisation. U Cluj (73 pts) and CFR Cluj (69 pts) were strong but simply not at Craiova's level.

Dinamo (65 pts) had their best season in years — a sign of the club's continued revival after their near-collapse in 2021. Rapid (62 pts) and FCSB (60 pts) — who had won the title for years — had to be content with mid-table.

European Qualification

Craiova qualify for Champions League qualifying. U Cluj earn Europa League qualification. CFR Cluj secure Conference League football.

Relegation

FC Slobozia (34 pts) and Metaloglobus (22 pts) were relegated. Metaloglobus, promoted the previous season, were overwhelmed — conceding 70 goals in their only top-flight season.

The Story: Craiova's Return to Greatness

Craiova were historically one of Romania's greatest clubs, winning multiple league titles before the 1989 revolution. After decades in the shadows — and a long legal dispute over the club name — this title represents a genuine return to greatness.

Their squad, featuring the best defensive record in the league and some of the most creative midfielders in Romanian football, is the envy of their rivals. The Champions League qualifying round will test them, but they enter with genuine optimism.

Looking Ahead

Craiova enter Champions League qualifying as massive favourites for the domestic title. FCSB and CFR Cluj will aim to close the gap. Slobozia and Metaloglobus drop to Liga II.
